It’s been a big week for print: J Crew has revived its print catalogue, The Cut published its first stand-alone print issue and Paper magazine is celebrating 40 years with a fold-out zine. i-D magazine is back online too.
‘More resources and the space to explore different kinds of storytelling have allowed us to have an even stronger pulse on what sparks conversation and to expand our audience, and this issue is just one of many things to come that will build on that momentum,’ said Lindsay Peoples, The Cut’s editor-in-chief. ‘One of my favourite tweets in response to our coverage was when someone said ‘Amazon is fast, but the Cut is faster’, and this issue is just another way for us to meet our readers where they are and make work that is both timely and timeless.’

According to Variety, erotic films are making a solid comeback on the film festival circuit, notably at the Venice Film Festival, San Sebastian Film Festival and Cannes. Notable films like Nicole Kidman’s Babygirl, Luca Guadagnino’s Queer, and Audrey Diwan’s Emmanuelle are leading this revival, addressing themes of sexuality, consent and identity in innovative ways.
These movies reflect a shift in the genre, moving away from traditional clichés to explore complex, contemporary issues, often driven by female and LGBTQ+ perspectives. This resurgence highlights a growing interest in erotic cinema’s potential to offer fresh, meaningful storytelling beyond mere steamy entertainment.
In our Erotic-tainment microtrend report, we analysed how a backdrop of sex-averse culture is only making audiences thirstier – leading to an explosion of entertainment that brings erotica to the masses.
