He has since invested in brands including Kjaer Weis and Costa Brazil, looking to go beyond traditional incubation and acceleration to develop brands that place responsible entrepreneurship at the heart of their operations. Michel draws on 25 years of FMCG operational expertise, having successfully built brands and businesses across many geographies, first at Procter & Gamble and then at L’Oréal, where he was president of the Consumer Product Division for North America.
Katie founded Brooklyn-based SMAKK Studios, a branding, digital and growth studio, in 2011. It has since grown into a 10-person agency working with a wide range of brands in beauty, wellness, lifestyle and social impact like Harry’s razors, The Honey Pot Company, Two Blind Brothers, Glow Habit and The Lip Bar as well as sustainability initiatives for the City of New York. In 2020 it released the Mission Plan, a sustainable transformation guide for consumer brands. Katie trained to become a Climate Reality Leader with Al Gore in summer 2019, and today frequently leads workshops and speaks on topics related to the mission at SMAKK and brand-building in the consumer space.
