Networks: the new science of creativity, change and future forecasting

Companies and advertisers talk as much about ‘being connected’ as they do about ‘spirituality’ and ‘customisation’. But are networks really so important? Yes! By definition, networks are a series of linked points - without hierarchy and without a beginning or an end. They have always existed, but now, empowered by new information and communications technology (ICT), they are changing the face of global society.

Everything from politics and business to media and personal relationships is now being built on and around these networks. They have become a hugely powerful organising system. They keep us informed; they sustain social capital. And, above all, the more we connect, the more those on the outside of the network want to connect to us.
