Kate Franklin: Creative Director
Kate Franklin
Kate Franklin joined The Future Laboratory as design trends editor in 2004. Building on a career in lifestyle trend forecasting that began at design consultancy Fitch, she harnessed her passion for aesthetics to establish a coherent visual direction at The Future Laboratory. She was made head of trends in 2006, during which she formed a team of the best visual trend researchers.

In 2008, Kate was appointed creative director of The Future Laboratory and Viewpoint magazine, a position in which her intuitive ability to identify a trend is invaluable. In her current role, she oversees the creative output of LS:N Global and client projects, and maintains the Future Laboratory brand across all channels. She is passionate about driving the importance of visual research and strategy, from identifying design directions in the lifestyle industries to developing consumer typologies and future product scenarios. Crucially, she appreciates the importance of bridging the gap between strategic research, sociocultural trends, consumer attitudes and design innovation.

Weekends, Kate trades in her London lifestyle for wellies and a 4x4 in the countryside. As a mum, she remains ever-focused on design: her daughter is the best-dressed tot north of the Thames.
